Église Sacré-Coeur (Sacred Heart Parish Church) is located on Rte. No. 1 which runs the length of St. Mary’s Bay (Baie-Sainte-Marie); the original cemetery was located next to the church but it is now located on a side road, the Eustache Comeau Road adjacent to the Parish Hall.
In the cemetery is a beautiful, very old willow (identified as an Arctic Willow and pictured above). A local horticulturalist was given permission to take cuttings for propagation. As you can see in the photo, this willow has seen many windstorms at Baie-Sainte-Marie and has been shaped by forces of nature but it remains unbroken like the Acadians over whom it stands guard.
